EURO 2008 tickets go on sale.

The online sale of tickets for UEFA EURO 2008 was officially launched in Basle on Thursday. With applications being accepted until 31 March 2007, 33 per cent of the 1,050,000 tickets for the final tournament will be sold directly to fans via www.euro2008.com.

Of the remaining tickets, 38 per cent will be reserved for the participating national associations, 14 per cent will go to official sponsors, with the remainder being reserved for VIPs, special guests, the UEFA football family and the host cities and stadium owners. Austrian tournament director Christian Schmölzer has urged fans to take their time, as tickets will not be allocated on a first come, first served basis. He said: "It makes no difference whether you order the tickets on the first or last day. People have a whole month, so there is no need to hurry."
